Ashish Vaja- Ashish played his first tournament in 1998. Around this time he came to the Waukesha Chess Club. He was much younger than most of the chess players at WCC. The WCC played a huge role in his development as a chess player. Ashish first chess instructors were from the members of the WCC. As of today Ashish is now a master of the game. His favorite chess players are Kasparov, Alekhine, Tal, Capablanca, and Stein.

Ashish suggests to others that want to improve their game to solve as many puzzles as possible and study the endgame. Ashish said "to improve your middle game, study the games of and before Alexander Alekine. Those over 1800 I would say study books like Zurich 1953, any books where a world champion makes comments on his games, anything by Dvoretsky, Romanovsky, Bronstien, Euwe, Keres, Kotov, Nunn, Alburt, and Mueller".
